A Winning Season for FRG-Sponsored Cycling Team

The women's team for the win.

With 18 wins and 52 steps onto podiums in just over four months, it was a great racing season for the Total Civil Construction p/b Battley Harley Davidson Women’s Cycling Team, co-sponsored by Farmers Restaurant Group. In our second year supporting this local USA Cycling Domestic Elite Team, we couldn’t be more proud to be in their corner.

Of course, our favorite win of the season was when our very own Angela Parrotta, FRG Design Director, came in first as the Master’s 35+ champ at the local Ride Sally Ride Master’s Criterium Championship race, then stopped by Founding Farmers Reston Station to celebrate and dine with her teammates after the race. Angela had a strong cycling season, making it to the podium multiple times, as did the entire Total/Battley team.

The women’s team showed their strength, and their continued development this season was clear. In the world of the Mid-Atlantic Bike Racing Association, the official measurement of how your team does is demonstrated in the final results of the Road Cup Competition and the Total/Battley women delivered. The elite women’s squad took second place (Adair Anderson), while the category three squad tied for second place (Sarah Granade), and took third (Katherine Sarkisov) and fourth (Erin Conner) places on the podium. Katherine Sarkisov also raced as a junior competing with the best U15/U16 women in the country at the USA Cycling Amateur Road Nationals. She placed fifth in the road race, proudly wearing the jersey with Founding Farmers across the back.

At Farmers Restaurant Group, we enjoy supporting our local women’s racing team and cycling community. For some races, we have provided “premes,” gift certificates which are used as incentives to animate a race. The officials ring a bell mid-race to inform the racers that whoever crosses the finish line first during the next bell lap is gifted the preme.

You can follow the team’s progress – during racing season, which runs from March-July, and throughout the year – on Facebook and Instagram.
