FFDC Welcomes Local Charter School!
Founding Farmers DC was thrilled to recently open our doors, for the fifth year, to some pretty amazing, enchanting, and wide-eyed preschool-3 students from the Friendship Public Charter School Southeast Academy.
The goal was pretty elementary: a four class, Friendship Southeast Elementary Academy field trip hosted by Founding Farmers DC in order to engage with, enlighten, and connect students to real world experience as the cornerstone of the field trip theme was based upon the notion of and importance of being “Community Helpers.”
As both Founding Farmers and the Friendship Schools are steeped in the foundation of community outreach, education, and partnership, this field trip is especially important to the FFDC team and the students, as it’s an open and welcoming platform for sharing knowledge, experiences, and of course – some great food!
The field trip was complete with lots of things for the kids to do: from enjoying the restaurant and talking with our chefs about what they do and where the food we serve comes from to a fun-filled, hands-on cooking lesson where the students made one of our Founding Farmers scratch sodas and our delicious French Toast.
What an amazing experience this continues to be for the FFDC team and the students. In the end, we were so happy to hear from the school administration that this again proved such a “great learning and dining experience” for the children.
We can’t wait to [hopefully] welcome them again next year!
*Great day! FFDC + Friendship Southeast Elementary Academy.
