World Book Day to Support Our Nation’s Farmers
Today, Farmers Restaurant Group Co-Owner, Dan Simons, celebrated World Book Day and the importance of our nation’s family farmers by reading a book published by our farmer co-owners at a suburban MD elementary school.
As a dad and sustainability advocate, Dan is always looking for new ways to educate others on the importance of taking good care of our planet, which includes supporting family farmers. He reached out to his son’s elementary school because he wanted to participate in World Book Day by talking with some eager-to-learn kindergarteners about the importance of knowing where our food comes from and who farms it. Dan also talked a bit NOT about all he really needed to know he learned in kindergarten, but all he really needed to know about business he learned from farmers.
Dan then read the kindergarten class this very special children’s book on family farming, published by our farmer-owner partners at the North Dakota Farmers Union (NDFU) and written by Dana Sullivan.
Our Family Farm is a cheerful and informative story about family farming in America and is rooted in the values of working together on a farm. The schoolchildren enjoyed the story and Dan’s visit and were very excited to be given their very own copy of the book. He shared additional copies of the book with the teacher and the school’s library for others to enjoy.
You can get a copy by purchasing Our Family Farm directly from us. The proceeds will go directly back to support the NDFU and family farming. It would be a great end of the year teacher gift. A great kids birthday gift. Also, it would make a great donation to your child’s school library or your local public library. And… a great way to support reading and American family farmers.
